INTRODUCING

The PERIO Surgery Workshop

Are You Ready To Take Control of Periodontal Defects in Your Dental Practice by Offering Periodontal Surgeries to Your Patients?

Periodontal surgery can still be considered a keystone in the treatment of periodontitis, aiming to control infection and inflammation and reduce pocket depth. In addition all restorative procedures require a solid periodontal support for a long term success.

Osseous resective surgery is used to contour the hard and soft tissue and reproduce a more physiologic anatomy. It can also be used as a functional crown lengthening procedure to establish a proper biologic width and ferrule effect.

Ultimate goal for periodontal treatment is the regeneration of the lost periodontal tissues. The term guided tissue regeneration (GTR) includes procedures attempting to regenerate lost periodontal tissues.

This workshop is designed to provide the clinician with both the rationale and the techniques to perform periodontal flap surgery.

All the different steps from treatment planning to incision designs and suturing techniques will be covered.

Course OBJECTIVES

Develop a rationale for periodontal surgical treatment after completion of initial therapy.

Assess indications, contraindications, and various techniques for periodontal surgery.

Differentiate between resective and regenerative surgical procedures.

Understand biologic width and the need for a crown lengthening procedure.

Decide when a crown lengthening is indicated and when an extraction is a better treatment option.

Be confident in performing resective and regenerative periodontal surgeries, including functional crown lengthening.
